I am a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at Emory University. My research interests lie at the intersection of comparative politics and conflict, with a regional focus on Asia. In my dissertation, I study the Chinese Civil War fought between the incumbent Nationalist (Kuomintang, KMT) regime and the Communists in the 1940s. I analyze an original dataset of high-ranking KMT officers to explain their loyalty and disloyalty choices during the war.
In another project, I study the migration decisions of South Vietnamese military elites at the end of the Vietnam War. I also work on projects related to bureaucratic politics in contemporary China. In general terms, I examine the motivations and behaviors of state agents across different political contexts and institutional environments.
Before beginning my Ph.D. studies at Emory, I received my M.A. in Political Science from Duke University in 2021 and my LL.B. in Political Science and Public Administration from Fudan University, China, in 2019.
